Davis kept a secret!

In November we found out that we would be welcoming a new baby in July 2013.  We did such a good job at keeping a secret.  On Christmas day Davis wore the above shirt to all of our Christmas celebrations to tell the good news.  At 12 weeks we posted this picture on facebook to tell everyone else.  Next Friday, February 15th, we go for our gender ultrasound and the following evening we are having a gender reveal party.  We are so excited and can't wait to find out the sex.  I'm really feeling that we're having a boy but BJ is convinced otherwise.  Davis thinks he is getting a baby sister too!  Hopefully I will be better about posting our progress.

Davis is still the size of a honeydew melon (next week starts the watermelon month..YIKES) he weighs approx up to 5lbs 8oz and over 18 inches long. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete — he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight. We start going to see Dr. C weekly now and at the next appt will be tested for Strep B. I have already pre-registered with the hospital and pediatrician so now all we need to do is pack our bags and wait on his arrival :)

33 wks

During these final weeks of pregnancy, your baby enters his "finishing period." This is exactly what it sounds like: Your baby's organs, skeleton, and body are well formed, but he needs a little more time to finish getting ready to take on the world. TheBump says that he is the size of a honeydew. By now he weighs a good 4-1/2 pounds and measures more than 17 inches long, pushing the height of your uterus nearly to your rib cage. His toenails have completely grown in, as has any hair on his head. Your amniotic fluid level is at its highest about now. The placenta is still providing oxygen to your baby through the umbilical cord, but your baby is practicing his breathing regularly, swallowing amniotic fluid as he opens and closes his mouth and exercising his diaphragm muscle. He continues to store iron in his liver, and the connections between his brain cells keep spreading like tiny tree branches. Neurons and synapses are developing between those brain cells, forming connections so that he'll have the skills to thrive as an infant.

32 wks

Less than 7 weeks to go (being induced at 39 wks)!!!
Your baby is just under 17 inches long from head to heel and weighs over 4 pounds (4lbs 1oz at appt last week). He will gain weight more quickly now and will probably double in weight between now and his birth. Just like a newborn, your baby sleeps most of the time. This week marks the peak of your baby's movements; from now until delivery he will have very little room to move around and you will probably notice a marked decrease in kicks, punches, and rolls.
Other developments this week:
* Nails. Baby will have completely formed fingernails and toenails.
* Head movement. He can turn his head from side to side.
* Organs continue to mature.
* Sucking. Your little one’s sucking muscles have matured and enable him to latch on and breastfeed once he arrives. A good sucking pattern is also a sign of good brain and muscle development. (We got to watch him practice his sucking during the ultrasound last week as well as his breathing :))
* Dreaming. Toward the end of the eighth month, he begins dreaming during sleep, according to brain scans. Due to his impressive brain development, his sleep will now include both REM and non-REM sleep stages. REM stands for "rapid eye movement," the dreaming stage of sleep.

31 wks

This week baby may weigh 3 1/2 pounds, and he should be 16 inches in length. I'll be giving better measurements tomorrow since we have an ultrasound today. His belly is Buddha-like, round and hard because his liver is busily producing red blood cells. Some babies have a full head of hair by the 31st week of pregnancy-which by the ultrasounds Davis def does. It's common for babies to hiccup at this stage and for the hiccups to be strong enough to wake you in the middle of the night. Every time I wake up during the night he is just a movin'.

30 wks

Although Dr. C was referring to me as being 30 weeks last week I'm going to go on with my 30 week post this week...
Less than 9 weeks to go. (We are being induced at 39 weeks if we haven't already had him)
Baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from his face.

29 wks

By now your baby weighs well over 2-1/2 pounds and most likely measures about 15 inches long. Your baby's hearing is so well developed by now that he will startle at loud noises. Soon he'll start turning his head to listen to sounds outside your body. He's beginning to store enough fat beneath his lovely pink skin that he may already have those baby dimples on his elbows and knees. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. As he runs out of room, your baby may bow his head down toward his knees, curling as he did when he was very tiny. He's long enough now that you'll notice his kicks more. (feels like non-stop esp at night) Forget those little fluttery motions. This feels more like someone is elbowing you for space on the subway! Play "guess that body part" with your partner as you try to distinguish a knee from a heel. (we've started this as well)

26 wks

I got in from work just as he was finishing putting the crib together...(see who makes every pic..haha)

Gotta love baby girl's expression..hehe

Our little family pre-Davis

In the beginning his movements were very light. Now, however, it feels like he is fighting inside of me. (Davis, I know you're anxious to be in my arms but it's not quite time hehe) Sometimes, it's both sides at the same time. The first few times it startled me. He is passing the 14-inch mark and his weight climbs to nearly 2 pounds. The books say that you may even hear your baby's heartbeat from the outside if someone puts his head on your belly. It also says that baby is probably still in the breech position (head up) at this point because of my pear-shape uterus offers him more legroom that way. Which I agree 100% that his legs are low. ha Although he's still wrinkly, baby is now at 25 percent of his expected birthweight, and he's going to really pile on the ounces in the next couple of months. His spine is getting stronger, and if he were born now, he would have an 80 percent chance of survival. He's now capable of inhaling, exhaling, and even crying. That lanugo hair that grew all over his body is rapidly disappearing, and it will probably be completely gone by the end of the 7th month except for some fuzz on his back and shoulders. Your baby's eyes are becoming more sensitive; if you were to shine a light on your belly, he would notice.

10 wks

Baby E is striding through week 10 :)
This week baby E is the size of a prune or a kumquat, a little over an inch long and weighs .14 oz. (Geez that's tiny) Baby has now completed the most critical portion of his/her development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. She/He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout the pregnancy. Tiny nails are forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin. Also, baby's limbs can bend now. In the next couple weeks baby E will double in size...yowzers

Changes in me this week...I still don't look preggers just look like I've gained a few lbs. My uterus is the size of a grapefruit and my "mid-section" is rather plump...more so than normal :) I'm still wearing my normal clothes but having to wear the bella band with some of my dress pants. I've been trying to walk a couple times a week. (Roxie enjoys it) I'm the sickness is over!!! If so, it wasn't near as bad as I had anticipated...I can say that now. ha Some days I think I can tell but my book says that is just b/c I need to go to the bathroom. bahaha Lastly the big thing these next few weeks are the zits on my face...WHOA NELLY..my hormones need to get under control so these can go away! And, still patiently awaiting my voluptuous boobies :)

Baby E at 9 weeks

Almost half way through week 9! The sickness has somewhat subsided...YAY!!
This week Baby E is the size of a grape, weighing just a fraction of an ounce. He/she is finally starting to look more like a human and the tale is GONE! (I was pretty pumped about that part haha) His/her heart finishes dividing into the four chambers and the valves are starting to form as well as his/her teeth. Baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. (WE CAN'T HARDLY WAIT!!!) His/Her eyes are fully formed, but his/her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. He/She has tiny earlobes, and his/her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. Next week is a big week for Baby E....but I'll tell you about all that next week :)
Still working on baby daddy with the potential names. He doesn't want to commit until we know the sex....he's killing me. He really thinks he has some say-so...haha Right now he says the baby's name is peanut. How cute, right?? He really is excited :)
BTW...ritz crackers and peanut butter are pretty dang yummy...lard butt
Happy Tuesday!

Finally, I can tell!

Okay so now that people are starting to find out.....WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!! Baby E is due October 7th. It's going to be one hott summer but I can't wait!
This past summer hubs and I decided that we were ready to stop taking the pills. What an exciting day that was. It feels wonderful to not have to rely on that tiny pill every month (sorry if that's TMI). We decided that we were just going to "let it happen"...newsflash...it doesn't really happen like that all the time. The first few months went by with all of the weddings and parties that we had going on. Which of course made people talk...esp my mother...how come you don't want a beer??? I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me why I wasn't drinking for the past 8 months. Baby E would be RICH! ha Anyways, after months of waiting for it to "happen" we decided that we were going to stop worrying about it and put it in God's hands. We knew that he would give us a baby when he thought we were ready.
Discovering two lines :)
On January 29th after being a week late I decided to take yet another test (I took so many tests over those 7 mths it was crazy) and once again it was negative..only one line. That week was very hard. Everywhere I went I saw someone pregnant or with a baby and I was so jealous. Person after person asked "when are yall going to have a baby..." You see, I used to be that person. I used to always asked couples when they were going to have a baby or why were they taking so long...etc...NEVER again. It's just not fun being on the other side. Of course I never meant to be rude when I asked those questions. Anyways, that next weekend was our big trip to the mountains. We were busy rushing around getting ready for our trip. Wednesday, February 3rd, I decided that since I still hadn't started I should probably take another test. (As crazy as it sounds I just wanted to be able to relax on our trip with all of the stress of "trying"..if I wanted to have a glass of wine I wanted to be able to and not worry about what if.) Well a very faint line came up almost immediately! Keep in mind this was about 11 and BJ had long been asleep. I didn't want to get too excited yet so I went on to bed. After very little sleep I got up with BJ at 3:45 (still not telling him) and took another test. It came up immediately. He was getting ready for work and I walked up to him with the test and he just looked at me. He said "Are you positive?" Of course I told him about the test the night before. Well that was not enough for Mr. Ehrhardt. We ended up taking 5 tests!!!! I called and scheduled my first appointment and we decided not to tell a soul! On February 17th I went in for my blood work for them to confirm that I was indeed expecting. That night we decided to tell our parents and siblings. Words cannot express how excited everyone was. We swore them to secrecy until our next appointment.
Today, March 5, 2010, a day that will always be special to me we got to see our baby! It was amazing. You know that it is going to be exciting but you really can't prepare yourself for that moment. Of course when the dr walked out BJ was fighting me over the two pics. He was too cute.
So of course the calls have started and the word is spreading like a wildfire. We are very excited to tell our nieces and nephews this weekend. Especially excited to see what the younger ones have to say back.
Needless to say this weekend is going to be a great one :)
