Davis had a wonderful first halloween(we celebrated yesterday). The gamecocks won, we got to see some family and he pretty much slept through it. I may be a little biased but I think his costume was adorable :) Hope everyone had a great weekend! (btw Davis had his first trip to mommy's fav place Friday...Target!!)
(You in your Halloween jammies) Where has the time gone sweet boy?!? Let's see... You've got to weigh over 8lbs now...your clothes are starting to actually fit. You are awake for a couple hours a day now. You just sit in your bouncy seat and "talk" or lay on your mat and "play". I just love to watch you b/c you just get so tickled. You eat 4ozs every 4 hours. You even slept for 6 hours straight last night!!! Maybe you'll be sleeping through the night soon?? I'm beginning to think that you're a mama's boy but I love it!! We experimented with the baby bjorn knock off today and you liked it. I see some shopping trips with it in the near future. Your first Halloween is this weekend and you will be decked out until Sunday in pumpkins...although Duke says he doesn't want to see you in orange anymore...I told him he doesn't have to worry it's only once a year and they don't have tiger paws on them :) I can't wait to share pics of you in your costume!!! You napping with Daddy last weekend! Happy Halloween
Another weekend has come and gone. Sweet boy is sleeping a little better at night and is up and alert for longer periods during the day. Friday mama and Davis went to work for a few hours. Davis did great while I worked. He slept had a bottle and went back to sleep...sweet boy. That night B and I decided to attempt going out to eat w/ lil man. He made me extra nervous on the way there but slept the whole time we were there. It was just the bbq place, we figured it was best route for our first trip. Maybe next weekend we will brave a "sit down" place and not buffet. Saturday morning my mom came and sat w D while I got some much needed extra zzz's, Aubrey came by, D and Daddy napped, then we headed over to mom and dad's for supper and to watch our Gamecocks play. (We won!!) And, Daddy took the night shift and I got some amazing sleep :) Sunday we had a few visitors and me, mom and D rode up to the pumpkin patch for the halloween pet contest. There were some hilarious costumes...too bad Roxie didn't get to participate :( she outgrew her costume! Today I am going to brave the grocery store w/ D. Wish me luck :)
Yesterday we had your check up. You did fabulous for our first outing alone! I started getting ready for the day at about 9 (even though your appt wasn't until 12..I wanted to allow time for meltdowns). You screamed the whole time I was in the shower. You just want your mama to hold you all the time. Anyways, we went by my work, to the doctor, lunch with Ashley V., stopped by and introduced you to your cousins Kensley and Dylan, dropped my "push" present back off at the jewelers for one last detail, picked up your medicine and headed home. PHEW what a day but you were such an angel! The Ped. put you on Zantac for acid reflux...you've been having spit up come out of your nose and get a little choked up so she thinks this will solve that issue (which is a good thing b/c you really scare mommy when you have one of those little episodes). Your stats from the appt... You weighed 7lbs 13ozs (between 50th and 25th percentile) and were 21 inches long(50th percentile). (You had lost down to 7lb 1oz at your last appt so she was pleased. You were in the 50th percentile with head circumference. What you've been up to... You eat 3ozs every 3 1/2-4 hours. You still sleep a good bit but are starting to "play" (a/k/a stare at all the crazy people around you), look at your "toys" on your tummy time mat, and wonder what the hang is wrong with your big sister who is constantly licking your feet and sniffing your diaper. You have discovered that you can only sleep on your tummy (which is going to drive your mama to the nut house worrying about you) or in someone's arms. When we get you to sleep we try to lay you down really gently thinking that you won't notice and it never fails you'll last about 20 mins before your world is crumbling down. You are still sleeping in your bassinet of the pack&play at night when you aren't on my chest. We experimented with the crib today and you may start sleeping in there soon. You are very advanced for your age..haha...you ROLLED OVER ALL BY YOURSELF Monday!!! And of course no one was here to witness except for Mommy :) AND you held your bottle for the first time on Friday like a big boy ;) You held your bottle all by yourself Friday... Please slow down sweet boy!
Today my family lost a family member. She may have only been a 6lb Chihuahua but she has been a part of our family for 16 years. Cricket was a gift to me for my 10th birthday from my parents. She was a feisty little thing. She made it through some hard times but today she went to doggie heaven :( Everyone has been telling me for months that I needed to prepare myself for this day that it was coming. In fact just Saturday night we had the same conversation as she was sitting in BJ's lap snoring. It's just something you can't prepare yourself for. Some may say it's silly but us dog lovers understand. I'm so thankful that my parents gave us the opportunity of childhood animals.....it is such a special bond. From Precious to Cricket and now I can pass it on with Roxie and Davis. Thanks for 16 wonderful years of memories Cricket!!
Yesterday you were two weeks old. Here you are hanging out with daddy. What you've been up to... We (you and mommy) had our first outing by ourselves. We just ran a couple errands but Daddy wasn't too excited about it. You've continued to have a steady flow of visitors everyday and it may or may not be making mommy a little nervous with all of the sicknesses going around. You eat 3 ozs (sometimes breast milk sometimes formula) every 3 1/2-4 hours. We can't wait to see how much you've gained at your appt next week. You sleep in 4 hour stretches at night. However, it never fails that you manage to wake up every morning at 4 when Daddy is leaving for work. Mommy is convinced that Daddy wakes you up but he says otherwise. You loved to be rocked and even more just to be held. Also, everyone absolutely loves your pictures that we had done this past weekend! Lastly, here you are in your pumpkin onesie that your mommy had made months ago. You'll probably be wearing it once a week for the next few weeks preparing for Halloween and Thanksgiving ;)
We had a busy weekend with our little man and were super excited for Daddy to be home! Friday we just hung out and watched the Braves (great game). That night BJ and I took shifts for the night and it was absolutely amazing getting more than 3 hours of consecutive sleep!! Saturday we prepped for little man's newborn session, went to that (which took a while), and got home just in time for kickoff. What a game!!! Our Gamecocks showed out and beat the number one ranked team!!!! It was such an awesome game. We were told that Davis was our little good luck charm. Years from now we'll be telling him that the year he was born the gamecocks won the national championship in baseball and beat the number one ranked teams in basketball and football!!!! How great is that :) B commented several times that he really liked being at home, just us to watch the game. He said we got to use our bathroom, be comfy and he got to drink and eat his own food w/o paying out the wazoo. I asked him to take a pic of me and sweet boy right after the game (he already had his gamecock gear off and in pj's) and this is what I got...bad picture taking skills daddy!!! Sunday we had a busy day with lots of visitors. Davis is finally on a schedule. He eats 3ozs and sleeps for 3-4 hrs then does it all over again. Here is a sneak peek that the photographer posted for us. We can't wait to see the rest! If I have 15 comments or more on the pics I'll get a free 8x10 so feel free to check them out and leave a comment...b/c we all know I'm going to have to have one of each ;)
Davis-Yesterday was 1 week since you graced us with your presence. Your mommy and daddy could never imagine the love that we have for you. You are such a blessing to our lives and we can't wait to see what the future holds for our little family. This week has been pretty rough on you with this silly blanket that you have been having to wear. We went back to have more blood work done this morning and it has come down to 13!! The Pediatrician called and said that we can take the blanket off until tomorrow, have it checked again then hopefully we will blanket free forever. What you have been up to... You are starting to figure out that you are supposed to sleep at night..(Mommy is really happy about this) You eat every 3-4 hours, sometimes formula and sometimes breast milk. Hopefully it will become strictly breast milk soon. (I haven't been producing enough for him so we have had to supplement) You sleep pretty much all day which, you would think that mommy would nap during that time but she can't seem to stop staring at you and making sure you're still breathing. Hopefully she will calm down some soon b/c those bags under her eyes are hideous. You love to pee on mommy at least once a day...it never fails. We have a "wee block" yet it never seems to be around when she needs it. You also love to make your mommy squirm by getting your clothes dirty as soon as she gets your dressed and situated. You love to hear your daddy's voice! Anytime he talks your head goes crazy just trying to find him. And he loves to still all of mommy's sugar. It's okay we still have 5 more weeks with him at work before mommy goes back to work. Lastly, you wish someone would tell your mommy to give up with the cute clothes until you actually fill them out. She keeps dressing you in clothes that are too big..although everyone keeps telling her that you will be in them in no time...you're just a little squirt right now and your newborns are still too big.
Last night was rough trying to get Davis comfortable enough to sleep with his "blanket"..we headed to the lab early this morning and found out that his biliruben level went from 18.4 to 17.2. They were pleased but said that they want him to remain on the blanket until Thursday and have it checked again to make sure that it is continuing to go down. Please pray for his levels to continue to decrease, for mommy to get more than 3 hours of sleep tonight and for mommy to not go crazy...Daddy goes back to work tomorrow and I can't imagine what it's going to be like without his help. He has been absolutely amazing throughout all of this! Thanks for all of the support. Lastly, BIG congrats to our good friends, Tripp and Stacey, who told us today that they are expecting in May! Will Davis get a best friend or a girl friend :)

I'm a wifey to a handsome hubby and a new mama to a sweet baby boy! We live in a small town in SC and couldn't love it more. I'm a lover of all things smocked and monogrammed. God has blessed me with a beautiful and healthy family and I am forever grateful.
