New Yorkkkkkkk

AHHH I'm so anxious to be off work, packed and ready to go! I think we are all pretty excited. Especially a little blonde headed, blue eyed boy! I called him last night and he was all over the place from who he was sitting by on the air plane to seeing Central Park and getting to go to "the biggest toy store ever Aunt Katie"! He really just made me even more excited. I can't wait to see his reactions to some things. Then, I was catching up on my shows and saw the bachelorette from Mon and they were in NYC. They got to be apart of The Lion King which made me want to see it again even more!
Yesterday after work I got to meet up with Lizzie for pedicures and a quick supper at our fav, Zaxby's! It was nice to catch up and she hadn't seen "the bump" b/c when she last saw me I was only like 10 wks. She had a sweet surprise for Davis...the book "The Giving Tree" It may be coincident but I read it to him last night while I was watching some tv and every time I would stop reading he would start kicking like crazy. lol
Hope everyone got to sleep through the horrible storms last night. I, on the other hand was up stressing and a little scared. I've never been afraid of storms but last night the lightening was popping everywhere, lighting up the house, thunder was loud and rain was so hard. Plus Roxie was whining. Hopefully I'll get to bed early tonight since we have to get up at 4am!! yowzers
Wish us safe travels and a great trip and I'll catch yall up on Monday :)

24 weeks (2 days early)

Davis now weighs almost a pound and a half and around a foot long. During the remaining weeks of pregnancy, baby will gain about 6-7 pounds. His ears are now extremely sensitive to sounds outside the womb, and he can recognize my voice. His body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
Me this week...Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 weeks Friday
Total Weight Gain/Loss: 11 lbs total
Maternity Clothes: I am wearing them and they are so much more comfy!
Best Moment this week: I love feeling him but seeing him move is even better! It is so neat.
Gender: It's A Boy
Movement: I LOVE IT!
Food Craving: sweets
What I miss: Sushi!!!! yum-o
Sleep: Like a rock
What I am looking forward to: His furniture coming in and finishing the nursery. Also, hubs agreeing on a middle name so the monogramming can begin :)
Belly Button: In
Symptoms: Just getting bigger everyday. Seems like I've been a little more tired too.

Weekend Recap

Phew another weekend has flown by!
Friday night we went to a party for the two engaged Watson chillens. It was fun but oh so hot!
Saturday BJ had to work and I spent the day with NICOLEEEEEE!!! Oh how I've missed her so. We had lunch at one of my favs-Firehouse :), stopped by a little boutique, registered at Target and did a little shopping for New YorkKKK!!! When I got home, mom and hubs were working away in little man's room! It's coming along and I'm so excited. I didn't bother them only to refill their drinks, snap some pictures and go pick up supper. Didn't I have it rough ;)
Sunday we went to church then headed to Columbia with Mama and Grandma. (Lucky BJ, right?!?) The reason we were going was to pick up sweet baby's crib but they were closed...I know should have called first. We met Daddy for lunch at Carrabba's, registered at Baby's R Us and got lots of stuff from Lowe's for the house. I can't wait until all of these "projects" are complete but boy oh boy it's going to look so much better!!! I promise to have some pictures soon!
This morning I had my monthly visit. Davis is growing right along. She said the everything looks great and she'll see me in 4 wks!

23 weeks

With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. (We've seen this twice now....soooo neat!!) Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. The book says that loud noises that become familiar now — such as Foxie Roxie barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when he hears them outside the womb.
This week Davis is so busy that it feels like he's karate in my belly. They (the books and internet) say that's exactly what he's doing, pushing his feet against the uterine wall in preparation for taking those first steps alone. His nostrils are unsealed, and he's capable of muscular breathing, but his lungs need a little more time to mature. His other organs are almost in full gear. His pancreas can now produce insulin and makes more if he's exposed to high levels of blood sugar in your body. His brain is still growing rapidly inside his skull, which has four plates that aren't completely closed to allow for that brain growth. Even after birth, these skull plates won't be completely joined, because the human brain triples in size during the first year of life. I'm sure he's really smart already though..haha BJ keeps saying he prays that he gets his brains...meanie Baby's lips are more distinct, and his eyes may flutter open occasionally, though he won't really open them fully until the 7th month. He has more pigment in his skin this week, and more fat is accumulating beneath it.

Yummy Chicken Enchiladas

Got an easy one for yall...
Boneless, cooked chicken (I did a small whole chicken)
Salsa
Cream of Chicken
Shredded Cheese
Cream Cheese (at room temp)
Tortilla shells
Mix the salsa, cheese, cream of chicken and chicken together while the chicken is still hot to melt the cheese. Spread the cream cheese across the tortillas, fill them with the mixture, roll them up, place them face down in a 13x9, top with some salsa, bake at 350 for 20-30 mins. Top with some extra cheese. YUM-O

Update from yesterday: The dr said to call if I notice any change, fever/rash/etc. and that she will be doing monthly ultrasounds to make sure that everything is okay. Thanks for the prayers.
I felt like he was "letting me know" he was okay last night. I saw my belly move for the first time. So crazy and amazing! BJ got to feel him for a good 15 minutes as well.

Just another manic monday....

Phew...Hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a good party for the engaged couples. I'll have to steal some pics from Sarah b/c I didn't take any..surprise surprise! Hopefully today baby daddy will start painting our baby's room :) I can't wait to see it. We are also planning to update our registry this weekend. I know, I know...all things baby these days. I just can't help it...he consumes my every thought!
On another note, a girl came into our office today with her two children. After being here for a while she proceeds to tell me that the reason they are with her is b/c they can't go to daycare b/c they have Fifth Disease. Fifth disease- "Especially common in kids between the ages of 5 and 15, fifth disease typically produces a distinctive red rash on the face that makes the child appear to have a "slapped cheek." The rash then spreads to the trunk, arms, and legs. Fifth disease is actually just a viral illness that most kids recover from quickly and without complications." Then it says "This common childhood illness is usually mild in kids, but it can pose a serious danger to pregnant women and their unborn babies." So I'm kind of freaking out. Of course I immediately called my mom who knows everything and she told me that I should call my dr and let her know. I left a message and am now watching the phone waiting on them to call back. Please say a lil prayer that everything is okay. I've nearly drown myself in anti-bacterial stuff!
